  KEVIN'S  LATEST MUSHROOM HUNTING ADVENTURE
Mushroom hunting August 13 2003 with JM at the Ramsey's Draft Wilderness Area of the George Washington National Forest just off Rt 250 west of Craigsville, VA.

6:30 PM 8/13/03 - What's that golden glow about 20 yards down a steep slope ?

Upon closer inspection it appears to be a mushroom...

Yes-Indeedy boys and girls, a genuine Chanterelle pokin' up out of the hemlock/laurel forest floor within 100 yds of Ramseys Draft. What a hoot!

  From above ...

And at the side, the twig is helping to support the mushroom..

Soaked in cool salt water for enough time to remove the various critters, rinsed and allowed to dry.

  Black Chanterelles

  Leatherbacks

  Leatherbacks      Black Chanterelles     Chanterelles        Leatherbacks

The best is yet to come...yum, yum...

What a treat!  Thanks "JM"... and "E" too (for the Scallops and Striped Bass that accompanied the mushrooms), another sort of twisted variation of Surf and Turf Western Virginia style...too much good.
